History The earliest recording of ‘The Three Horseshoes’ is documented in 1625 when it was a coaching inn for coaches and travellers from London to Cambridge. The stables were situated to the north of this site. In 1707 the landlord John Christian Barnard appeared at the local court of assizes for “keeping ye disreputable inn.” Later the building came into the ownership of Mr Eddie Randall and was left as a family business from the early 20th century eventually trading as a fine restaurant. During that time and after as a brewery owned and managed house (Benskins brewery first bought the property from the Randall family.) many ‘add-ons’ have occurred but most of the original building still remains, and can be seen from the inglenook fireplace up to the central fireplace in the front bar. |
